Hello,

In the new version 2.1.1 attribute "Description" became required for MetaDataVersion element. Based on the Define XML Specification 2.0 this attribute is optional.

This is not related to the topic, but I was always struggling to understand what to put in it, even in the Define XML specification on page 58 the example looks like:

<MetaDataVersion OID="CDISC01.SDTMIG.3.1.2.SDTM.1.2"

Name="Study CDISC01, Data Definitions"
Description="Study CDISC01, Data Definitions"
def:DefineVersion="2.0.0"
def:StandardName="SDTM-IG"
def:StandardVersion="3.1.2">

Pinnacle 21 populates this attribute with the same value as StudyDescription global variable. I'm not sure this is the right value for this attribute.

Hi Dimitry,

Apologies for the 5 month wait on this answer! In a future release, we are removing this check from the Description attribute of MetaDataVersion because it is indeed optional. For now, you can just leave the description as is or fill it in with whatever you like if you don't want/can't have the issue appearing in your reports.

Best Regards,

Gerard McDevitt
