When I use --LNKID, is it wrong that there is no --LNKID value which is the same value to it in the other domain ?

However, if there is a relevance to the variables(ie --GRPID) in the other domain, can I use --LNKID ?

Hi Utako,

Formally you are not required to use the same variable to linked records across domains. RELREC domain provides info about relationships.

However particular cases may expect standard implementation. For example, in Oncology domains TU and TR domains records are usually linked by --LNKID variables, while TR and RS domains utilize --LNKGRP variable.

There are many good examples in attached excel file of SDTM IG 3.1.3.

An example 2 represents a case with split and merged tumor lesions. TULNKID variable represents individual tumors, while TUGRPID variable groups records for split and merged tumors.
