Dear Pinnacle 21 personnel

the way i understood there are two conflicting paragraphs in the below link. See below two paragraphs.

https://www.pinnacle21.com/configuring-pinnacle21-community-validator-cdisc-controlled-terminology

However, since Pinnacle 21 typically has two releases per year compared to the variable release dates of CDISC Controlled terminology, it may be necessary to download the latest version from NCI FTP site. In a rarer case, you may even need to pull an older version of the terminology. If you just want to use one of the latest versions, you can skip the next section and simply refer to the screen shot which shows how to select your CT.

P21 Community 2.x requires the use of the ODM formatted CT files. Because CDISC does not release these files in the proper format required for validation, the files from the CDISC website are modified before packaging with P21 Community. Adding raw *.odm.xml files to P21 Community will have adverse consequences.

In the first section it asks you to download from NCI FTP website for the latest CDISC CT sheet if needed, but in the paragraph it mentioned that there will be adverse consequences. Can you please help understand can we use or can we not use CT sheets from NCI FTP site directly.

Is there any way that you can add a check in the community tool to make the user aware of that they are using a wrong CT sheet if they try to use incorrect CT sheet rather than just adverse consequences.

Regards

Mithun

I.m.o. stating "Because CDISC does not release these files in the proper format required for validation" is the "world upside down". The files published by CDISC on the NCI site (in ODM format) are very well suited for validation, but it looks as Pinnacle21 wants to change them to have them work in their own validation software.

The differences between CDISC-CT and Pinnacle21-CT files have been discussed several times in this forum, see e.g. (among others): https://www.pinnacle21.com/forum/cdisc-controlled-terminology-files-2017-03-31. The latter also explains how one can install a temporary version of the latest (by CDISC published) CT when it is not available yet on the Pinnacle21 website.

Hi Mithun,

Sorry, our web page with documentation for installation of CDISC CT was outdated and referred to old OpenCDISC v1.5. It's fixed now.

For versions 2.x.x you have to use CT files available for download from Pinnacle 21 website.

We are planning to add functionality for checking correct system installation and configuration.

Kind Regards,

Sergiy
