How to disable Auto-Update

How do you disable the Auto-Update feature? We have OpenCDISC under change control, and don't want users attempting to update the application in an uncontrolled manner.

Just to clarify. We need a system-wide disable Auto-Update. The Checkbox in the preferences seems to only work on a per-user basis.

We deploy on VDI images to our users. We want to preconfigure the VDI image so each virtual desktop is disabled. The problem is this setting is in each user's profile and not a central location. How can the image be set with the auto-update disabled?
