Is there any possibility to validate the odm file itself with opencdisc validator? Or are there other free features?

The above information is not correct. If you want to validate pure ODM (so not define.xml) there is a (for CDISC members) free validator from XML4Pharma - see http://www.xml4pharma.com/CDISC_ODM_Checker/.

ODM Validator

The ODMChecker is already available for about 10 years now and this is very well known by the OpenCDISC people. So it would have been more than fair when OpenCDISC had pointed Nina to this tool (which is free) instead of leaving here standing in the cold ...
This is not about competition or advertising - this is about helping people getting things done ...
