Pinnacle 21 Community 3.0 is slow at validating

Hi,

I have used P21 v2.1.3 for quite some time and when running P21 on define.xml it would usually take about 12 seconds to do the validation.

After I upgraded to P21 v3.0.0 I experience that the validation of the same define.xml file takes 2.5 minutes.

Is there an explanation for this significant increase in validation time? I think it could be because P21 v3.0 installes to a default directory that in my organisation is located on a network drive. I ran P21 v2.1.3 from the Desktop. Since I cannot change the default installation path for v3.0 I am unable to test myself.

Slower Validation

Any word on this... I've also seen slower validation in my test.

Hi Kim,

Sorry for the late response. Could you please describe which stage of validation is the slowest in this case? Is it stuck at starting validation or at generating the report?

There might be some performance difference from 2.1.3, mainly caused by the different engine being used for validation.

Validation time still shouldn't be so huge for just define.xml. That is probably caused by your network drive setup. Could you please also describe, are test data and validation report stored in this network drive too?
