Dear Sir,

I hope the issue report below helps improve this excelent software.

## Issue Summary:

When validating Dataset-XML without specifying define.xml, you see the Validation Complete screen but it tells "0 checks were performed."

## Issue Details:

I and some other users experienced the issue described in the summary. When I troubleshooted and looked into the source code, I noticed that the DatasetXmlDataSource.java assumes that define.xml is provided by the user or a file named "define.xml" exists in the same directory. So, basically this issue has a workaround, but I wanted to post this issue because (1) many users will get confused as we did since other dataset formats (e.g. SAS Transport and Delimited) do not require define.xml, and (2) it seems like the code was designed to handle this issue by throwing an InvalidDataException but something does not seem to be working properly.

Best regards,

-Ebi

Without a define.xml file, it is impossible even to know the variable names, as Dataset-XML files do not have this metadata. This metadata needs to come from a define.xml file.
