Is there a way to run an older version of the old (1.3) with the most up to date version of the rules by providing an updating .xml file or the rules, or are the rules tied to the version of the tool.

I know that we pick up more errors/warnings when runnign 1.5 than 1.5 on SDTM 3.1.3, so can we just provide an updated .xml file to version that contains the most recent rules, or do we have to use the most recent tool.

Thanks,

Jim Miller

Hi Jim,

Why do you need to run an outdated version of validator?

In general new check specifications cannot be executed on old engine. Aslo it could be global changes in check algorithms implemented on engine level.

Kind Regards,

Sergiy

Thanks for your response. I'd much rather run the most current version, but one of our vendors does not.

That's why I wanted to know if the rules could be easily updated. Not knowing the engine/check specification relationship, I wondered if it's possible.

Doesn't sound it is, or at least not meant to work that way.

Jim, the FDA will use the latest version come submission time.   I wouldn't let a CRO/Vendor cripple you along that way.   They work for you, not the other way around :)
